Automatic Laundry, a leading laundry service provider to the college market in the Northeast, has partnered with Roger Williams University, Iona College and New England College to implement its proprietary LaundryConnect™ Pay, a mobile payment app platform aimed at revolutionizing the way students living on campus pay for laundry at the washer or dryer.   Students simply download the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play store (Android app), register with a debit or credit card, and start the machine by scanning the QR code clearly marked on the laundry machine.

Automatic Laundry replaced antiquated, hardware-heavy laundry payment systems on all three campuses with LaundryConnect™ Pay.  Students can now easily load funds anywhere and at any time with their smartphones and can seamlessly purchase laundry services without having to physically handle cash or use a card. The mobile platform accepts all major card brands.

Additionally, Automatic Laundry also implemented its proprietary LaundryConnect™ that links the commercial washers and dryers installed on the three campuses to the internet.  Students now have access to a laundry monitoring web page that shows the availability of machines in real-time and can opt to be e-mailed or texted when machines become available, or when their laundry cycle is finished — the ultimate time management tool.

Also with LaundryConnect™, real-time service alerts are sent from the washers and dryers directly to Automatic Laundry’s service team.  Automatic Laundry is now able to remotely repair over 80% of equipment breakdowns before students and staff become aware of the malfunctioning machine.

The networked appliances are manufactured by Alliance Laundry Systems, LLC, the leading designer and manufacturer of commercial laundry equipment.

Both technologies promote social distancing and reduce touchpoints in the residence hall laundry rooms. With LaundryConnect™, students can see when the laundry room is inactive and plan doing laundry during off-peak times. Mobile app-based payment systems like LaundryConnect™ Pay provide an advantage in reducing touch points compared to a student paying for laundry with coins or campus card.
